Working for 'Da Man'
Well, what can I say? I have been working now for 2 weeks and it is interesting to say the least! Here at home I can drop what I am doing and spend time with the kids, but I can also set my own hours so if I choose to goof off for an afternoon, I can work in the evening to get a project done - not gonna happen with a full time big people job!I think the thing that has struck me the most is the number of people who work because they have to, there is no real passion to do what they do - not me, I love what I do, not necessarily the work specifically at Citibank but writing as a whole - working with words, getting my point across in that way totally enthralls me. Working therefore is not a necessary evil to me as I see it is to so many other people I share office space with. I didn't realise people could take so many breaks during the day and get away with it!
But, I do miss being with the kids, and as soon as I get a couple of clients who can pay me consistently and who can give me consistent work (I am on my way to getting one) I will come back home again. Nothing can beat the solitude of my house during the school hours, and the boisterousness of it once the kids come home. Nothing can beat getting up early in the morning and working so that when the kids want to go to the pool at 11:00 I've already put in 4 hours of work and can work the rest later on.
