Happy Labor Day Weekend
The talk is summer is winding down - perhaps it is in the northern states, but here in San Antonio the general consensus is we will have another three months of summer before the cool down occurs - which is mostly true.
Unfortunately our neighborhood pool closes this weekend. It seems such a shame because the weather will be fine and hot for at least the foreseeable future. But our lifeguards have to get back to College, and school. One graduated College and now has to get a 'real' job, so there are no people to man the pool.

We plan on spending this afternoon and as much time tomorrow at the pool getting in the last official swim of the season!

Warrick - Preacher?
Last night Warrick gave a mini-sermon at the church youth group. He has given a mini-sermon before, but this was the first time we have been invited! Terry looked over at me about one minute into it and said, "It's like looking at a different person, just someone who has invaded our son's body"! And I have to agree - Warrick was awesome. The topic was not allowing the dreams God gave you die, but also walking in His time to fulfill the dream. He used a very powerful quote from
Lou Engle a pastor who speaks very compellingly of God's dreams and desires and how He created each one of us to fulfill that purpose.
Although Warrick is studying for a business degree (and I think that is important) I do believe the Lord is calling this young man into the pastoral ministry.
We walked out of the youth service absolutely amazed at this is our oldest son - he never fails to amaze me!

College Bound

Well, after much debate and research Warrick has settled on a college to attend. He decided to do online classes (I think this is defintiely the wave of the future) but he wanted a college where his diploma/degree does not have 'online' in the college line. Makes sense, because even though he is getting the same instruction as students who actually attend class, there is still some stigma attached to online classes, as though they are somehow 'less'. Personally I think a person who gets his/her degree online demonstrates an extraordinary amount of self control and discipline. You have to make yourself sit down and get a class assignment done otherwise you don't get credit.
Warrick will be getting his associates degree in Business to start with - he is choosing to do it in 15 months! So by December 2008 he will have the associates.
Congratulations Warrick - we are PROUD of you!
